What types of window treatments do you put in a business that don’t look fussy or feminine?

There are many types of window treatments that lend them selves well to a business atmosphere. Classic roman shades, blinds, shutters, natural shades all look wonderful in a business setting. Draperies and valances can give a smart business look too but  it take a professional to accomplish it. As well as the valance and drapery design, color, fabric, pattern, scale, and the overall  finished look must be considered. A professional window treatment designer will provide that expertise .

Shutters

Do shutters have any insulating value? You bet they do. It may surprise you to know that most shutters have an R-value of 4.63 to 4.77.   That is quite an impressive R-value.  The  R-value is a rating system that represent an object’s  resistance to heat loss. The higher the R-value, the longer an object can maintain a constant temperature.  A single pane window has an R-value of .09, a double pane window has an R-value of 2.0.

Shutters

Shutters are one of the most popular window coverings today. Plantation shutters are hot!

What exactly are plantation shutters? The are louvered shutters with louver sizes of 2” up to 5″ wide.

The traditional shutters that some of us are familiar with had louvers from 1″ to 1 1/2 ” wide.

Plantation shutters come in a multitude of finishes from wood stain to a white paint.  Custom shutters can be custom painted for an extra charge.   Some shutters are being manufactured in China and imported to the USA. The USA is still manufacturing shutters also.

Solid wood shutters  as well as wood composite shutters are available.

Motorization is offered by some companies. The louvers can be opened and closed by the push of a button, how convenient.

Arches, angles, circles, and octagon shapes are no problem for shutters, the manufacturer can custom make shutters to fit these shapes.

Shutters fit into any decorating scheme and can be used with side panel draperies as well as valances.
